  • Biography

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the School of Economics at Zhejiang University of Technology, a Research Fellow in the Global Labor Organization (GLO), and a Workshop Alumnus of the Ronald Coase Institute. From October 2018 to March 2024, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the School of Economics at Zhejiang University. In 2022, I served a temporary position at Beijing Office of The People's Government of Zhejiang Province to improve the inter-regional resource allocation efficiency through digital transformation. In May 2023, I was selected by the inaugural SOLE Mentoring Program (mentors are Fabian Lange & Uta Schoenberg)  for the 2023-2024 year. In June 2024, I was invited to attend and present at the NBER Conference on Fertility and Declining Population Growth in High-Income Countries (organizers are Melissa Kearney & Phillip Levine). In July 2024, I was selected by the inaugural Government and Economics Training Workshop at Tsinghua University. From October 2024 to December 2025, I served a temporary position at the Department of Social Development and Reform of the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission. In December 2024, I was invited to attend and present at the NBER Conference on Place-Based Policies and Entrepreneurship (organizers are Sabrina T. Howell, Josh Lerner, and David T. Robinson). In January 2025, I was invited to attend and present at the AEA annual meeting. In September 2025, I was invited to attend and present at the 18th AFD-World Bank Migration and Development Conference. In January 2026, I was invited to attend and present at the AEA annual meeting, as well as to participate in the AEA Mentoring and Networking Luncheon chaired by Pascaline Dupas.

I obtained the Ph.D. in Economics from University of Nottingham (2018), M.A. in Labor Economics from Zhejiang University (2013), and B.S. in Statistics from Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics (2011).

My primary research agenda focuses on the political economy of labor mobility institutions and their implications for labor allocation, demographic change, and economic development. Specifically, I am interested in examining the effects of the relaxation of population control measures, such as migration restrictions, on labor markets and firm behavior. This body of work aims to better understand how institutional constraints influence both microeconomic outcomes (individual and firm-level decisions) and macroeconomic outcomes (productivity, innovation, and demographic trends). Some of my recent work has been published in the Journal of Comparative Economics, Canadian Journal of Economics and China Economic Review.
