  • 个人简介

Dr. Mohsin Shad is a biochemist and molecular biologist specializing in protein engineering, structural biology, and recombinant biotechnology. With over eight years of research and academic experience, his work focuses on the design and optimization of enzymes and recombinant proteins for industrial and therapeutic applications.

He is currently serving as a Postdoctoral Scientist at Zhejiang University of Technology, China, where his research centers on advanced protein engineering and functional biomolecule development. Prior to this, he held key positions including Laboratory Manager at ZIEST Therapeutics, Pakistan, and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of the Punjab in collaboration with Avlon Industries Inc., USA. He has also worked as a Visiting Scientist at the Rosalind Franklin Institute, University of Oxford, UK, where he gained expertise in structural biology and biophysical characterization techniques.

Dr. Shad completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the School of Biological Sciences, University of the Punjab, Lahore. His doctoral research focused on the development of highly thermostable α-amylase through rational protein engineering, contributing significantly to industrial enzyme applications. His earlier work includes an MPhil in Molecular Biology, where he developed combinational strategies using Bt and plant lectin genes for enhanced insect resistance in crops, and a BS (Hons) in Biochemistry focusing on gene cloning and transformation in wheat.

His research integrates experimental and computational approaches, including X-ray crystallography, site-directed mutagenesis, isothermal titration calorimetry, and bioinformatics-driven protein modeling. He has extensive experience in recombinant protein expression, genome editing, and structure–function analysis, alongside strong proficiency in modern molecular biology and biochemical techniques.

Dr. Shad has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact international journals, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 80 and an h-index of 10. His work spans enzyme engineering, microbial biotechnology, structural bioinformatics, and transgenic crop development. He is also a co-inventor of a patented fusion protein designed to enhance COVID-19 serodiagnostic sensitivity.

In addition to his research contributions, Dr. Shad serves as a reviewer for multiple journals under Springer Nature and has contributed as a Guest Editor for BMC Methods. He is an active member of several scientific organizations, including the Pakistan Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Through interdisciplinary innovation and international collaboration, Dr. Shad continues to advance the frontiers of protein engineering and molecular biotechnology, with a strong focus on translating fundamental research into practical industrial and biomedical solutions.
